How to Have the Right Spirit of Obedience to the Word
GENESIS 3:4-5
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Before Eve’s eyes of understanding could be opened to know good and evil, she had to first come into obedience to what the serpent was telling her.
So right here in Genesis we see a woman (who types a church), coming into obedience to the words of the serpent. So we see a connection between obedience to the word and the opening up of her understanding. If she had never obeyed the serpent, then her mind would have never have known the contrast of good and evil.
REVELATION 3:18
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed (Back in Genesis 3 they became naked, but here the Lord is telling us how to be clothed again), and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
**In Genesis 3, Eve’s eyes of understanding were opened by obedience to a false word of the serpent, and that is what caused her to become naked, but now in Revelation 3 we find that a Church’s eyes are being opened by being anointing with the message of the last days – and that is also what clothes her again.
We want to look at how we are to have the right spirit within us so that we can be obedient to the word of God because there is a great power that is released by God when a person comes into full obedience to the word of God.
BLIND.BARTIMAEUS_ LOUISVILLE.KY FRIDAY_ 54-0402
E-9 …Just like the brass serpent. Why, the serpent didn't have no virtue in it; it was a piece of brass they'd brought it up out of Egypt. Neither did the pole have any virtue in it, not a bit. But it was obeying what God said do, what brought the power, what brought the virtue, is obedience to the Word of God.
But to continue in obedience to the word requires a spirit of obedience to first be in the person. So there is a spirit associated with obedience to the word of God just as there is a spirit that causes a person to obey what the devil wants them to obey – either way, and depending on what spirit is in you, you will be obedient to something. **Eve obeyed the serpent because of something that changed within her spirit.
EPHESIANS 2:2
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
There is a spirit in the people that causes them to be disobedient to the word of God, and so there must also be a spirit in the believer that causes him or her to come back into obedience to the word.
ROMANS 5:19
19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Look at how powerful obedience and disobedience can be – by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
So obedience or disobedience to the word of God is a very powerful thing.
*When Adam disobeyed God by being obedient to the devil, it cost him (and the entire human race) the ownership to the whole world, and it also made a way for sin and sickness and sorrow and death to plague the entire human race for 6000 years – just one man’s disobedience to the word of God.
*One man’s obedience to the devil took him somewhere a lot further then he ever wanted to go. So we can see that obedience will always take you somewhere depending on who’s word you obey.
**Adam and Eve were taken out of the Garden of Eden because of their obedience to the serpent’s word, but on the contrary, Noah was taken to a new world because of his obedience to the word of God.
I SAMUEL 15:17-24 We know in this story that the rulership of the Kingdom was lost to Saul because of his disobedience to the word of God just as the kingdom and rulership of the entire world was lost to Adam and Eve because of their disobedience to God. **Disobedience to the word of God will take away the power of rulership from you, so there is a lot of power connected to obedience.
17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?
18 And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.
19 Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?
20 And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.
22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
24 ¶ And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
*One thing is for certain, and that is you will obey someone’s voice, even if it is just the voice of your own foolish ideas. And you can always tell if it is your own foolish ideas, because it will be contrary to the word of God.
***So you will either be obedient to the word of God, or you will be obedient to something contrary to the word of God – it is not that you won’t be obedient; it is just what you will be obedient to, and that will depend on what spirit is in you.
**King Saul was being obedient to the people, but he was being disobedient to God.
*Eve was being obedient to the Serpent, but she was being disobedient to God.
*Cain was being obedient to his own idea of religion, but he was rejecting the word of God.
TOKEN_ JEFF.IN V-2 N-19 SUNDAY_ 63-0901M
338 The Token is the sign that the purchase has been made and been accepted. Now, you can't get the token from the railroad fare until you pay the price; and the only way you're going to pay the price is pay it. That's right. What? Believe It. Accept It. Full obedience to the whole Word of God will entitle you to the Token. Full obedience! Not the part of It as far as your denomination goes, but all of It. Full obedience to the Word, which is Christ, brings you into Christ. (Obedience to the word of God is a spirit that comes into you by the revelation of the word, because you won’t be able to help obey what you truly believe)
THE.TOKEN_ BAKF.CA V-22 N-8 SATURDAY_ 64-0208
124 Full obedience to the Word brings God, the Word Eternal, in you, and that is the Token. When the Word is in you, It's Christ in you.
When you chose to obey the word, then that is what brings the spirit of the word into you, and then that causes you to continue in obedience.
We know from our last few studies that the eyesalve of Revelation 3:18 is applied by anointing our hearing by the message of this hour. The eyesalve is the revelation that has come by the message of the hour that opens the eyes of our understanding of what has been, and what is, and what shall be.
GENESIS 6:10-13
10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11 ¶ The earth also was corrupt before God, (There is your first 4 trumpets of Revelation 8 which are the Earth, Sea, Fresh waters and the Atmosphere being polluted under the influence of a 20th century industrial age as technology advances from the first world war on to this present time.)
and the earth was filled with violence. (So this is your world wars, because as we learnt on Wednesday night that global war is organised violence, so there is your last 3 trumpets which are the last 3 woes, WW1, WW2, WW3 – the earth is filled with violence, and so that is also repeating here in the Genesis 6 because everything is Genesis is also in Revelation).
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. (Not only is the physical earth being corrupted, but human flesh is also been corrupted with the chemicals and poisons and insecticides and pollution in the earth, sea, fresh waters and atmosphere, and people don’t hardly know if they are male or female anymore.
13 ¶ And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
GENESIS 6:21-22
21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them. (This gathering and storing of food had to take place before the judgment came; the prophet of this age was also told to store up the spiritual food for these last days)
22 ¶ Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
Notice - There was something in Noah that caused him to obey the word of God.
***So at the beginning in Genesis 3 we find that Adam and Eve were disobedient to the word for their day, but here in Genesis 6 we see a man (Noah) and his group coming into obedience to every word of what God had said to them for that time.
**And so as Adam and Eve’s taken out of one world and placed into another world by their disobedience to the word of God, we find that Noah’s group by being obedient to the word for their day were also taken out of one world and taken to another world just like we who will come into obedience to the word for this day will also be taken out of this world and go to another world for the millennium.
GENESIS 3:1-7
1 ¶ Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Notice that it was going to take obedience to what the serpent said that she was to eat. In other words, she had to eat what He told her to eat in order for her eyes of understanding to open. Her understanding could not advance outside of obedience to the word of the serpent.
So that is why when we get to Revelation 10, John who is a type of the bride of this last hour (the last Eve) is told by the angel to “eat the book”, a book has words in it, so to eat the book is to consume the words of the book, and words convey thought and understanding, and thoughts and understanding convey spirit. Jesus said that His words were spirit and life just as we see here in Genesis that Satan’s words were spirit and death to the human race.
That is why you cannot receive the Genuine Holy Ghost and reject the word of God at the same time.
6 ¶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes (You have to watch what you look at, because the devil knows how to cloak death in what looks pleasant to the eyes), and a tree to be desired to make one wise (as human beings we have a natural desire to know things – a tree of a man’s teaching is what makes a person wise), she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. (She was being obedient to the word of the serpent)
7 And the eyes of them both were opened (look at the power of what obedience did for them, it made a way for their understanding to be opened), and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Notice here that by being obedient to the words of the serpent stripped them of their supernatural garments – so if we are to be dressed in this hour, then it is going to take obedience to the word of God in the light of the revelation of this day.
PRESENT.STAGE.OF.MY.MINISTRY_ JEFF.IN V-11 N-2 SATURDAY_ 62-0908
120 … I hope He'll crown my ministry with this, of letting me take the clothes of the Word and dress His Bride in the clothes of the Word and for His righteousness.
MATTHEW 4:1-11 Notice that in each of the three temptations, Satan is trying to get Jesus to obey what he says, this is the test.
1 ¶ Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
There would have been nothing wrong if he had created bread to feed himself, we know that later on in his ministry he created enough bread to feed 5000 men besides woman and children. The point was, if had had done it then, he would have obeyed what the devil had told him to do.
5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Notice that the devil is quoting the scripture of Psalm 91:11-12, but this was also an attempt to try to get Jesus to come under his control of obedience of what he was telling him to do.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
8 Again (the third temptation – watch how the devil also temps you in threes, if he can’t get you the first time then he will keep trying), the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. (The devil was willing to give up all the kingdoms of the worlds for Jesus to rule over if only he would come under his obedience)
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
**You will obey what you come to agree with in your spirit. And so you can only come into the spirit of agreement with the word of God by hearing the word of God for your day – the eyesalve. That is when the spirit of your thoughts will begin to align with the thoughts of God according to the revelation of the word, and then that is when you will have the spirit of obedience to the word in you – it is coming into agreement with the word.
GOD'S.ONLY.PROVIDED.PLACE.OF.WORSHIP_ SHP.LA V-7 N-4 SUNDAY_ 65-1128M
76 Now, the word Deuteronomy, the word itself means "two laws," the word Deuteronomy. And God has two laws. The two laws: one of them is disobedience to the Word, and die; and the other one is obedience to the Word, and live. That's the two laws, and Deuteronomy means those two laws. They have both been absolutely displayed to us in the Scripture. One of them is death, the other one is Life; Life and death. God deals only in Life, Satan only in death. And these was displayed to the world publicly, openly before every eye, and there's no excuse for it. One of them was, displayed on Mount Sinai when the law was given, which condemned the whole human race to death; the other one was give on Mount Calvary, that brought the whole human race to Life, when the penalty was paid in Jesus Christ. The two laws of Deuteronomy was fulfilled in these two, great things.
**Obedience to the word of God comes by agreement with the word of God; that is why a clear understanding of the word of God needs to be opened to you so that your thoughts and God’s thoughts and come into perfect alignment.
361-1 LAODICEAN.CHURCH.AGE - CHURCH.AGE.BOOK CPT.9
…This Laodicean Age ends in a blackout of the Word, thereby causing a departure of the Lord from the midst. He stands outside calling to His own who follow Him by obedience to the Word. (That is how we follow him in this day) After a short and powerful demonstration of the Spirit this little hunted and persecuted group will go to be with Jesus. (Notice - the hunted and persecuted part comes after the short and powerful demonstration of the spirit which comes after a people who follow him by obedience to the Word, and that is because they have received the spirit of the truth of the word)
Summery
***Eve kept listening to the words of the serpent (maybe she had some tape recordings so she could listen to him in her spare time), and then after a while a spirit of agreement started to come into her mind as it began to make sense to her what the serpent was saying – it was like a revelation to her (a false revelation), and then that agreement with what the serpent was saying became a spirit in her that caused her to come into obedience to what he was saying for her to do even though it was contrary to the word of God. Had she kept the word of God in her heart, that false spirit of deception could never have come into her to cause her to be disobedient.
**How do we receive the spirit to obey the word of God? It can only come by the hearing of the word of God for the age that you live in “Eat the book John”. **It must be Christ in you, that is the only way you will be able to have the spirit of obedience of the Word dwelling within you.
Trust and Obey, for there’s no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
