The Forgotten Prophet

II CHRONICLES 20:20

20     ¶ And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

This word “Prosper” (in the Hebrew) = to advance, to make progress, to succeed, to be profitable, to bring to successful issue.

If you would only believe in the message of a true prophet of God, then according to the unfailing word of God, your belief in that prophet will bring you into prosperity and success.

JEREMIAH 2:32

32   Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

New Living Translation

Does a young woman forget her jewellery, or a bride her wedding dress? Yet for years on end my people have forgotten me.

Why is it that people forget about the Lord? A young woman getting married wouldn’t forget about her wedding dress. So if a prophet that God has sent to represent Himself to the people of that age, then why would those people forget that prophet and the message that God sent through that prophet and then expect to prosper.

DANIEL 5:10-11a

10     ¶ Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house (Notice the appearing of a queen at evening time, after the handwriting on the wall (representing the Pentecostal age), but before the destruction by the enemy, and this queen bore a message of a forgotten prophet to a people who were already under judgement – this is showing us a mystery of this age.): and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:

     11   There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods;

The Forgotten Prophet

LUKE 17:24-27

24   For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. (Notice – “shall be in His day” this is to be a future day of the revealing of Christ (the Son of man) at his second great appearing which is to be a secret to the public, and this future revealing of the truth of the word would be the light of the word that would shine globally to all parts of the world by an end time message.

*So the message of a prophet would go to the entire world in this last age and not like in the church ages where the light of truth was concentrated only in certain geographical places as it travelled from the eastern countries to the western countries over two millennia and ending up on the west coast of America - in other words, there would be a worldwide shining of truth in these last days that would revealed Christ to the elect of God throughout the entire world – and that was the appearing of the Lord in this age of how He would revealed Himself to his elected people of this last age.

At Christ’s first coming, He was revealed as a baby in a manger, at his second coming he will be revealed to His elected people by the opening of the word of truth through a prophetic ministry – Christ being revealed in this age by His word of truth that is shining into the hearts of His elect.)

25   But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.

(He suffered and was rejected back at his first coming in His earthly ministry of 2000 years ago, and so He will also suffer and be rejected today by the religious churches that have crucified the truth of this age by holding on to their creeds and denominational dogma)

26   And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man (What happened in Noah’s time would also be repeated in the last days of when this future time of the word is revealed).

27   They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

God had sent a one man message of His prophet Noah to that whole generation of people in that last age, and yet we see in the scripture here that the people of Noah’s day had long forgotten about Noah and his message so that he had become a forgotten prophet to the people of the Antediluvian world. And because they had forgotten the prophet of God, it caused the whole world to plunged into complete ruination and cataclysmic destruction, and so they did not come to a successful end, but to an end of total ruination.

**But then at that same time that Noah had been forgotten by the rest of the world, there was another group of people who hadn’t forgotten the message of what God had sent for that hour, and because they had stayed with Noah’s ministry and had not forgotten His message, then they were the ones who were taken over into the new world and whose end became a success - because all who believe God’s prophets shall prosper and find success.

“Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. II CHRONICLES 20:20

**So this condition of Noah’s day is showing us of a people in this last day that will not forget the prophet and his message that God has sent for this day also, and so this is the group that we want to be a part of, because it is this group that will come into the reality of a body change and go into a new world of where this old world will have passed away in judgement.

HOSEA 13:5-6

5     ¶ I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought. (When things get rough and people go through a time of wilderness and drought experience in their lives, there is often a tendency for people to draw closer to God during those times because they recognise their need for God – but when things begin to get prosperous in their natural lives, and living becomes easier, then there seems to be something in the human nature that tends to forget about the Lord, and this is the direction that we have seen the world go in these last days.

*This Laodicean age is a world that has boasted that they are rich and increased with goods, and that they don’t need God to help them because they already have it all, but as we see now how that the world is coming into a time of financial crisis and want, that the people are in a condition as in Noah’s day of where they have forgotten about the Lord. There has been a generation gap of forgetfulness of where their children were never taught about the true God, and so now He has become the forgotten God, and we can see how this has led the world into the condition that it is in today, it has cause the world to come into the curse of a cost of living crisis that is affecting so many people and bringing so much anxiety into people lives, and they cannot find an answer to it because they have forgotten the one who could give them help)

6   According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.

New Living Translation

But when you had eaten and were satisfied, you became proud and forgot me.

*It is amazing to look back through history and to see how quickly it is that man can forget things of great importance, and because of his forgetfulness it can have a devastating effect on the decisions that he makes in his current world and situation.

***Imagine being an electrician, and you kept forgetting how important it was not to handle live electrical wires with your bare fingers – yet this is the thing that human beings do all the time when they forget the things of the Lord.

**Forgetting important things of the principles and laws of the word of God can bring a person to swift destruction, or a nation, or a church, or a family – the principle is the same.

*Imagine forgetting that the red light at a stop sign means that you have to stop - to forget that could become fatal for you, and not only for you, but for others as well.

*Politicians are just men with very limited knowledge in the scope of all the knowledge that there is, but they can make their ideas sound good to the public, and so because of this they will keep making decisions with policies that have red lights already attached to them. They will keep repeating certain political systems and ideas that have miserably failed in the past - they forget that if something has been proven to not work a multiple of times before, then why would it all of a sudden work just because in their personal minds it makes perfect sense to them?

*There are some types of forgetfulness that can be very healthy for you.

It is especially good to forget about the things that are not going to encourage you mentally. A lot of our mind battles would be greatly removed from us if we would refuse to dwell on the thoughts concerning the past negative events of our lives.

PHILIPPIANS 3:13b

13b   …but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

This is how we are taught to operate in our thinking according the scripture -we are to press forward to the things that are in front of us and not dwell on the negative memories of the things that have happened in our past.

*But then there are other things that we never want to forget.

*We never want to forget about the grace that God has shown to us, and the great truths of the promises of His word concerning this age that he has made known to us through the ministry of Malachi 4 and Revelation 10:7.

**Amnesia refers to the loss of memories including facts, information, and experiences that a person has had in the past.

There are various degrees of amnesia. It may not be that a person has forgotten who they are, but that they have forgotten certain things of their past that are important for them to remember in order for them to go forward and to function as the human being of who they are and of what they have experienced that has made them the person that they have become – Amnesia rarely leads a person into prosperity.

SPIRITUAL.AMNESIA_ BIRMINGHAM.AL SATURDAY_ 64-0411

104   I wonder if the church hasn't got amnesia so much now that they don't, some of them, don't even believe there is such a thing as the Holy Ghost. See where the church has got? A very bad case of amnesia! See, they have forgotten that that was Jesus Christ back there. They have forgotten what Jesus Christ was. They have forgotten. They thought He was just a--a law-maker, or a prophet, or a--a good man. They forgot that He was God. They forgot that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And the church has got a bad case of spiritual amnesia. They have forgotten all these things. They don't understand It no more.

**We know that God always sends His mercy before he sends judgement.

He sent Jonah to Nineveh before he would have destroyed it. He also sent Noah at the end of the antediluvian world before He destroyed it. He has sent a prophet in this generation to try to call it to repentance before he brings judgement in this age.

A prophet is a sign from God that judgement will soon follow if mercy is rejected.

WILL.THE.CHURCH.GO.BEFORE.THE.TRIBULATION_ JEFF.IN SUNDAY_ 58-0309E

E-7   Now, before God ever does anything, at each junction of time, He always sends mercy, a angel, a prophet, a message. And as every time yet, it's all been spurned. The church don't want to receive it.

Noah... He spoke of Noah here. And he preached a hundred and twenty years. And though his message was mercy, the people failed to heed his teaching. It was something that was to save them, and yet, they would not listen. And if that isn't a very beautiful picture of the times of today.

SOULS.THAT.ARE.IN.PRISON.NOW_ JEFF.IN V-2 N-22 SUNDAY_ 63-1110M

314   … mercy was sent to them by a prophet. They wouldn't believe it. God is merciful, but, He sent mercy but they wouldn't receive it. He always sends mercy, first.

*So we are looking at a little subject here of “The Forgotten Prophet”

People seem to remember all sorts of things of history – especially famous people like movie stars and presidents, and even tyrants and infamous people seem to be remembered for hundreds of years after they have gone, but when it comes to remembering God’s prophets that he sends, that seems to be something that the world will so quickly forget about.

**And so we see in Noah’s time, that even though he had preached for 120 years and no doubt his message may have travelled the world over with God vindicating his message, and he may have had many followers and believers in his message along the way, but as the years went on and the world went on, and Hollywood began to distract the people and to influence their minds and morals away from the things of God, that by the time the judgements were almost ready to fall, the entire world had completely forgotten about this prophet and the message that God had sent for him to preach to their generation – Noah had become a forgotten prophet.

DANIEL 5:1

1     ¶ Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.

DANIEL 5:4-5

4   They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone. (People will worship just about anything apart from the only true God who is worthy of worship)

5   In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

DANIEL 5:7-8

7   The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

8   Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.

(You need a prophet to interpret the word of what God has written – no theologian or any other wise man or denomination could do it)

DANIEL 5:10-12

10     ¶ Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:

     11   There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

12   Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

This Queen’s voice was a voice that was declaring that a prophet was in the land of whom was able to interpret the written word of God.

He had become a forgotten prophet to all the others of the land, but this queen had not forgotten the prophet that God had sent to that generation, and we find her still declaring this prophet right up to the time just before the judgement fell.

Notice Danial’s message to those who had forgotten the prophet that God has sent to them – “it is all over for you”, God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. And thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

**Mercy was over for Belshazzar and his nation, and the cause of it was that they had strayed away from the true God because they had forgotten the prophet that God had sent to them.

THE.HANDWRITING.ON.THE.WALL_ JEFF.IN SUNDAY_ 58-0309M

E-48   But I want you to notice another. I want you to remember, that while they were still in that condition, under that drunken stew, there was a little queen. She hadn't been at the rock-and-roll party. She must have been out reading Daniel's prophesy. She wasn't up indulging in their sin. And she come running in. When the king didn't know what to do, she come running in, and she said, "Oh king, live forever. I know you're all shook up. You're all bothered. And your pastor and none of your counselors, your pope, and your cardinals, and your district men, and your superintendents, there's none of them can interpret it for you. But there is a man. There is a man in your kingdom, he knows the supernatural.

It is not just the world that forgets God’s prophets and the message that those prophets speak, but it can sometimes be the people of God that forget as well, and so we need to be constantly reminded, especially in this age of the greatest deception of all the ages combined.

SPEAK.TO.THIS.ROCK_ CHAUTAUQUA.OH SUNDAY_ 60-0612

E-19   … It must have been a--an awful hot morning. They had no sleep through the night; they had gathered at a little oasis. And all night long the cattle bawled, and the--the horses nickered, and the children cried, and the people murmured: no water to drink. And they were out in a desert alone. And they'd searched through all the springs around the place, and all the springs had went dry, and there was no water.

Their sin had brought them into this condition. They had forgotten all that God had did to them, and did for them, and had went off to murmuring against God and His prophet. And it had brought them out into this wilderness, where it was a desert: no water, nothing for their children, no food to eat, no water to drink. It's a horrible thing when people sin, a very striking type of today in the world. Then we find also that they'd easily forgotten that the God that had promised them to take them to the land, had been the God that sign--gave all those signs and wonders and miracles.

GO.WAKE.JESUS_ TUCSON.AZ SUNDAY_ 63-1103

105     Then they found, like we have today, that trouble set in. The ship begin to rock, and the winds blowed the sails away, and the water filled up the boat. What? All hopes was gone, all hopes of survival.

106   Now, if you ever was in Galilee, them same things happen today. Over on the west side, there's--there's mountains. The crack in it, like that, somehow is cut away. And, today, fishermen around the shore there will tell you that it's treacherous to go across the sea there, because them storms come up unknowingly, and just sweep down. And that water, troubled water, just churns around and around, and it sinks the fishermen yet today.

107   And all of a sudden something happened. Trouble arose. And down went the sails, and a way the wind puffed it away. And the oars begin to fail, and crack and break, as those brawny-backed fishermen laid to them, knowing how to face those waves. And--and all of a sudden the boat filled up with water. But isn't it strange that men, who just a few hours ago, amen, seen Him do such things, and had forgot all about it?

108     The God Who raised the dead, the God Who healed the sick, the God Who fills with the Holy Ghost, that we've seen done, is now the same today. He's right here in the boat. He is here with us. "Lo, I am with you always. Whether in troubles, or when she's sailing smooth, I'm still in the boat." See?

109   They had forgot about it. And they thought all survival was gone. They thought they... They had seen Him do so many things, but now they had forgot He was in the boat. All forgotten, in the time of trouble, just like it is now.

It is amazing to see how that as soon as trouble strikes a person or a family or a church, then all of a sudden, everything that has been taught to them for years is all forgotten in just a few fleeting moments – we must not be like this, this truth must become life within us by everyday experience like king David with the lion and the bear – when he got to Goliath, he had already had experience with what he knew.

JEREMIAH 9:23-24

23     ¶ Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

24   But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

**We are of the group who have not forgotten the prophet that God has sent to this generation – it will lead us all to a true prosperity – maybe not a temporal prosperity, but certainly an eternal prosperity.

If you think you have become a little forgetful of the message that God has sent in this Generation, then refresh your memory again by feeding upon the food that God has stored up for you for this hour.
